8 - Employability skills:
Employability skills are transferable or generic skills, that all individuals at a workplace should have along with relevant technical skills. They are:
1. Communication Skill: It is very important to Listen and Understand others while working at a workplace as a team, it is also important to speak clearly and directly with others while sharing information.
2. Teamwork: Team working involves working with many individuals of different ages, gender, religion, race, or even political persuasion as well as knowing how to define a role in the team. It also involves applying teamworking skills to a range of situations such as identifying the strengths of team members and give feedback.
3. Problem Solving: This skill involves the implementation of problem-solving strategies across a range of areas, solving real-world problems in a team, for example, resolve customer concerns in relation to complex project issues.
4. Initiative:
This skill involves translating new innovative ideas into action and also developing a new strategy and creative technique. It also involves arranging a range of options in backup and identifying different opportunities that are not obvious to other people.
5. Planning and Organising: This skill involves an understanding of short-term and long-term planning, managing time, as well as priorities, work schedules to make crucial decisions. It also involves planning the use of resources including time management and understanding the basic business systems and their relationships.
6. Self-management: This skill involves evaluation as well as monitorisation of our own skills and performance. For that one should have a basic knowledge of their relevant field and confidence in their own ideas and goals. And one should be able to take responsibility in any situation.
7. Learning: To expertise in this particular skill one should be enthusiastic for ongoing learning to manage his/her own learning outcomes. One should also be open to new innovative techniques and ideas.
8. Technology: This skill involves a range of basic IT skills, where a person is able to apply IT as a management tool to solve various technical problems. It also represents that a person must be willing to learn new IT skills for career progression.
